2015

At Berinak III in Senpere (St.-Pée-sur-Nivelle), France, in the Basque region, Le Parc exhibited a large installation of Tulle with Lumière en mouvement in the city’s church. The installation was accompanied by music by Bach (The Passion According to St. Matthew) or live with Basque chants.
 
Le Parc traveled to Moscow for the first time, to install Lumière en mouvement at Lexus Hybrid Art 2015. At the conclusion of a conversation with the public at the legendary Pushkin Museum, Le Parc asked the attendees to sing him a Russian song. The audience responded by singing in chorus Russia’s most famous song.
 
On the occasion of a solo exhibition in the Espace Aliés Guinard in Chatillon, France, Le Parc mounted some twenty gray works, all 1 meter square, from the Modulations series (2004–08), in a line.
 
At the request of Pierre-Alexis Dumas of Hermès Éditeur, to follow Josef Albers, Daniel Buren, and Hiroshi Sugimoto in a project with Hermès, Le Parc, in collaboration with Yamil Le Parc, engaged in a very fruitful project based on his work La Longue Marche. Hermès then produced an edition of 60 unique variations of Hermès carrées. The silk scarves were presented in Basel, Miami, Buenos Aires, and Paris.
 
The magazine Crash gave Le Parc carte blanche for a 10-page spread. He completed a theme titled Quand/When and presented it in a layout of his own design.
 
Temporary installation of a large Blue Sphere Mobile in the Hall of the Kirchner Cultural Center in Buenos Aires, at the initiative of Yamil Le Parc.
 
Guest of honor at the Curitiba Biennial, Brazil, whose theme was Luz do mundo (Light of the World). Le Parc presented a major exhibition of light-works, curated by Yamil Le Parc, in the oculus of the Museu Oscar Niemeyer.

Le Parc took part in the exhibition The Illusive Eye at the Museo del Barrio, New York.
 
For the Paiz Biennial in Guatemala, dedicated this year to the viewer and curated by Alma Ruiz, Le Parc authorized the reconstruction of some of his and GRAV’s works from the sixties.
 
With Alberto Biassi, Le Parc took part in the event titled Illuminati da Nikola Tesla in the Castello di Boldeniga, in Brescia, Italy.
 
François Morellet, friend and cofounder of GRAV in 1960, died. Several months earlier, Le Parc had visited him in his home-studio in Cholet, spending a day with Morellet and his family. In retrospect, it had been a day of farewell.
 
Karen, the mother of Le Parc’s grandsons Matteo and Salvador and wife of Gabriel, died. The first death in Le Parc’s immediate family, very deeply felt.
 
At the request of Jean de Loisy, chair of Paris’s Nuit Blanche (White Night), Le Parc developed an ambitious project for the Pont Bir-Hakeim, over the Seine. Unfortunately, the project, did not come to fruition.
 
A book published by Hermès Éditeur and titled Julio Le Parc: Variations autour de La Longue Marche (Julio Le Parc: Variations on The Long March), containing a text-poem by Le Parc, “Ma Longue Marche,” was presented in Paris.
 
At the request of the Kirchner Cultural Center in Buenos Aires that Le Parc’s Blue Sphere, installed there, be donated to the Center, where it would remain on permanent display, Le Parc carried out a public survey, then donated the piece.
 
Responding to an invitation in 2014 from the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) for a major solo exhibition, Le Parc worked intensely, with the valuable help of Estrellita B. Brodsky, curator, and Yamil Le Parc, artistic adviser, to prepare the exhibit. This show, titled Form into Action, would be Le Parc’s first major retrospective in the United States, and would include over 100 works produced by Le Parc between 1958 and 2013. The exhibit would be accompanied by a catalogue with a profound study of Le Parc’s work in both English and Spanish.
 
Gabriel Le Parc prepared a film on Le Parc’s exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo.
 
At the request of the mayor of Carboneras, in the state of Almería, in Spain, Le Parc worked on a project for a large sculpture for the entrance to the city.
 
A sculpture by Le Parc, cast by Dante, will be donated by Le Parc and Citibank to the city of Buenos Aires.
 
Rutini, an important wine producer in Mendoza, dedicated a production of its wine, labeled “Le Parc,” to the artist. The case is inspired by a work by Le Parc.
 
The Bernardaud porcelain company, Limoges, France, after Chagall, Calder, Koons, and others, asked Le Parc to collaborate on several projects.
 
Yamil Le Parc’s work as an advisor and promoter of Le Parc’s work over the last twelve years has been invaluable, and indeed essential both for the PAMM’s and many other exhibitions and for the organization of Le Parc’s archives, activities related to making Le Parc’s work better known and to disseminating the story of his life and career, and to the work of the studio in France.
 
Julio Le Parc still lives and works in Cachan, outside Paris, pursuing, with his habitual perseverance, a goal still not fully clear.

BRAFA, the prestigious Brussels art fair, paid homage to Le Parc with a presentation of four large-scale works. 
 
At the request of Instituto Tomie Ohtake in São Paulo to present the PAMM exhibition there, Le Parc worked intensely to adapt over 100 works to the space. 
Le Parc was among the small group of artists invited to ARCO Madrid. There Le Parc presented a White Sphere Mobile and gave a public talk accompanied by Gabriel Pérez Barreiro. 
 
The relationship with Galerie Perrotin continued to be developed in parallel with Nara Roesler Gallery in São Paulo, and with the two galleries Le Parc was presented in various important art fairs: Art Paris, Art Cologne, Dallas Art Fair, SP-Arte, Art Basel Hong Kong, etc. 
 
At the beginning of the year, in close collaboration with his son Juan, who offered up his high competence in handling Virtual Reality tools, a series of experiences was created to immerse spectators in the Alchemies themes.  
 
With the arrival of Soizic Oger as director and with the dedication of Le Parc's sons Juan and Gabriel, a push for increased organization took force.
 
Art Basel Unlimited exhibited La Longue Marche, a 65-foot-long work, with the support of Galerie Perrotin and Nara Roesler Gallery. 
 
A project to install a large mobile at the new shopping center in Metz, France, was put into motion. 
 
Intensive work undertaken by the studio on two books with the publisher La Différence: a upmarket 420-page volume and another 200-page volume that will include most of the artist’s texts. 
 
Invited by Emmanuel Perrotin to create a solo exhibition (without a curator) on the two floors of his Paris gallery, Le Parc along with his collaborators and those of the gallery, notably Martin Bremond and Raphaël Gatel, prepared an important exhibition to be accompanied by a catalogue including an interview of Le Parc by Jérôme Sans and a text by Hans-Ulrich Obrist. Among other works, Le Parc’s Virtual Reality experiences will be on preview in the exhibition. 
 
Julio Le Parc still lives and works in Cachan, outside Paris, obstinately pursuing a goal still yet to be defined.
